Apex Railtown is a Railway, Model and Lifestyle Exhibition run by The Apex Club of Latrobe Inc. at the Devonport Showgrounds, Devonport, in Australia’s beautiful Island State of Tasmania. Devonport is the gateway to Tasmania, with the three “Spirit of Tasmania” ships docking on their regular crossings from Melbourne and Sydney.

The home town of the event organising Apex Club is the wonderful historic town of Latrobe, located a short 10 minute drive from Devonport in the neighbouring Latrobe Municipality.

The Expo is based around displays of private railway model collections – both working and static. It also incorporates model displays of all kinds – cars, trucks, fire trucks, and many other amazing model collections. The event is ever changing with many new and different displays each year, with a working quarry on display in 2005.

Ever popular are the radio-controlled models – boats, yachts, cars, off road vehicles, aeroplanes – all working displays to delight and set the imagination alight!

Incorporated into the expo are private collectable and hobbyists collections– displays have included police badge collections, bullet collections, teddy bears, doll and thimble collections – you think of it, and it may be here! Our hobbyists also include Societies and Associations displaying stamp collections, cake decorating and lace making, to name just a few.

Of course, what collection/lifestyle display would be complete without the car and motorbike club displays – Fords, Holdens, vintage cars, Monaro’s, trikes and motorbikes! Unreal vehicles on display over the 2 day event.

Working displays have included such displays as the famous locally identity Mr Steers and his bullock team, portable saw milling displays, chainsaw sculpting and fly fishing.

Life Style, Life Style, Life Style….Lacemaking, shearing displays, spinning & weaving, tourism information and displays, cars, boats, and much more each year!

There is always plenty of entertainment such as live music, rock ‘n roll and square dancing, facepainting, rides and Brett Gregory – Tasmania’s Popular Children’s Entertainer!

And food, food, wine and food… local wines to strawberries and cream, -good food, from BBQ’s to Tassie Fresh locally homemade produce, and plenty of stalls with goods for sale including locally make craft such as huon pine and wood turned items.

It really is an event for all ages and all interests – join us and enjoy a great weekend out!
